Something I may have done different

Last weekend my father, my brother and I decided to go to the national derby at the Azteca Stadium. It was a soccer game in which we were expecting many people coming through; we were talking about thousands of people, not only from the city, but also from other states of the country such as Jalisco, Puebla or even Chihuahua. We knew our prediction was right when we saw tens of buses parking all along the avenue, they came from everywhere.

We finally get into the stadium and saw some guys sitting in our places, so I asked them to stand up and leave; they had to move but we started to talk friendly, because we were supporting the same team. I asked them where did they coming from, because of their foreign accent, and they said they came from Guanajuato, and that was it for the moment.

Fortunately, our team was winning the game and we were all celebrating, but suddenly we turn back and there was this skinny and suspect guy who was now in our sits although we were all standing up. We let him stayed at first, but then he started to push me and my brother because we did not fit in the three places where now we were four people.
It started to get a little bit annoying for me, besides I was a little bit enthusiastic for the match and got my energy to the top.

It all fail when some guy asked me to give him some of my beer, so I got very angry albeit my brother was not. I pushed the guy and gave him a quick punch. Little did I know he was one of the guys who came from Guanajuato. They were many and they got very angry.

Finally, they told us that their friend was drunk and he always tend to put them in situations like that, so they apologized and so did I. I may could had done things different, because in another situation my father, my brother and I could have been hurt very badly, and all because of my reckless way to react to this situations.

We talked about it in our way home, but we were also proud of our willing to defend each other and to not let anyone disrespect us.

Why am I studying English?

Why am I studying English? This is the question that I first made to myself when I was in high school. "It is just another way of globalization" I used to say. The truth is that I had no idea of why.
When I started my studies in the University I also started to understand so many things about job issues. There was this girl, a friend of mine, who’s got her first job in a very important place. She was not different from all of us but she had a special ability: she could spoke English fluently; due to that, her boss gave her a job in Canada for her to speak with other clients of the native language.

That was the moment when I figured it out. I am studying English because I want better chances of work and travel, which is going to give me a much better life quality.

I am studying English because I know that it is the language of the modern world; this is the language of the opportunities, because it is spoken in every part of the world and it will be good for me and my labor development to make myself be heard everywhere.

I know that there are others important languages for us to learn, due to its global capability, history and technologies development, but I am pretty sure that English is one of the easiest and it is a good start to make ourselves be more prepared  and more globalized.
